CARROLL Wins Best Social Initiative: Portfolio Company Award from Private Equity Wire

This recognition from Private Equity Wire reflects CARROLL’s commitment to prioritize – and enhance – its societal and sustainable impact.

On the evening of June 21, Private Equity Wire unveiled the recipients of the U.S. ESG AAA Awards, which included CARROLL in the award category of Best Social Initiative: Portfolio Company. These awards, spanning a total of 27 categories across 3 areas (funds, managers, and portfolio companies), celebrate excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) endeavors. The ESG AAA U.S. Awards are independently vetted by EthicsGrade, an ESG data company, with the final decisions made by an external panel of judges.

“The CARROLL team, which includes our ARIUM teams across the country, is delighted to receive this recognition from Private Equity Wire,” said Kendyl Sainburg, ESG Manager for CARROLL. “This award further validates our company’s ESG initiatives, particularly regarding our approach to maximizing our positive social impact in the communities we serve.”

Included in CARROLL’s winning entry was how the company designated a group of individuals called CARROLL Community Impact Captains in 2022 to help each of its 90+ multifamily properties across the U.S. establish actionable “giving back” plans. These local leaders met regularly with on-site teams, helped them identify local charities who needed assistance, and offered one-on-one support.

One of 2022’s most notable initiatives born from the formation of CARROLL Community Impact Captains was a partnership between CARROLL and Little Free Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This endeavor, named ARIUM Reads, provided each community in its nationwide portfolio with a Little Free Library. In addition to the portfolio-wide initiative to expand literacy and free access to books for all ages, teams volunteered more than 2,300 hours to 61 local organizations
