Chief Financial Officer
Melanie Johns serves as Chief Financial Officer for CARROLL and is directly responsible for all financial management, including: accounting, FP&A, treasury, investor relations, and tax planning. Melanie, recognizing that the people are what makes CARROLL special, leads the financial department as a “player/coach,” with a focus on developing the talents of her team. Melanie prides herself on building efficient and autonomous financial operations that consistently deliver a timely and accurate product by using advanced systems and processes.
Relevant Experience – Melanie brings a wealth of knowledge from her multi-decade career of financial leadership in the commercial real estate industry. Prior to joining CARROLL, Melanie held executive leadership posts at The John Hardy Group, Cortland, Portman Holdings, and Trammell Crow Residential – after beginning her career in the tax department of Arthur Andersen. At each stop in her career, Melanie has helped create significant operational transformation and improvements to work quality through the use of domain-specific technologies and tactics. Her contributed expertise in these transformations included sourcing, and serving as the administrator in the progressive adoption and implementation of cloud-based financial solutions spanning accounting, forecasting, and reporting mediums.
Education/Affiliation – Melanie holds a Masters in Tax Accounting from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Florida State University. Melanie is a licensed CPA in the state of Georgia.
Interests – A native of Miami, Florida, Melanie moved to Atlanta after college where she resides with her husband and their five children in the Chastain Park neighborhood. Melanie enjoys spending time in the North Georgia mountains with her family and dogs, calling Blue Ridge, Ga., their home away from home. She also enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and attending the kids’ sporting events. Outside of CARROLL, Melanie invests her spare time in her favorite hobby of home design.
