Chief Investment Officer
Brett Richards serves as Chief Investment Officer for CARROLL. Brett is responsible for the acquisition strategy and fund management platforms, along with developing and fostering capital partner relationships.
Relevant Experience – Prior to joining CARROLL, Brett spent more than 17 years working across multiple segments and markets within the multifamily industry. Most recently, Richards served as Senior Vice President – Transactions at LivCor, LLC, and directly oversaw the building and daily management of the company’s investment team. He and his team worked with Blackstone to execute all of the firm’s multifamily investments. In three years, he worked to close more than $11.5 billion in multifamily transactions.
Prior to LivCor, Brett spent 14 years with Equity Residential. In this role, he was responsible for both asset management and investment strategy as Vice President of Investments. In his time at EQR, he was responsible for investments in Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, and all major markets in the Southeast. Additionally, Brett worked to oversee a joint venture encompassing four private REITs, more than $1.3 billion in transactions, and asset management oversight of more than 45,000 units across the nation.
Education – Brett is a graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla., where he received a B.S. in Real Estate. He is also an active member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), and a former board member of NMHC Emerging Leaders.
